Amen to that post :) As you say, it could be all pure speculation, but posts like this lighten everyones hearts I'm sure and give us that little bit of hope we're all looking for ;) Very down-to-earth post, I like it :)

u are right about the chicken pox thing. Adults sometimes get "shingles" later which are stress induced adult chicken pox.

Amen here too. I got shingles at 24, why I don't know, I am a very healthy person...May have been stress. The body is weird.
However they are two different viruses and HPV does stick around and is contagious longer than the chicken pox virus.

I'm so down with what this poster said....I have a health science background and I know that what you are saying is in compliance with the current medical literature about this virus. Right on.

The notion that "the virus never leaves the body and you always will have it" stems from uncertainty as to when it actually does leave...you have no proof. The virus is in the skin and there's no way to tell. It's not like a cold where you start to feel better so you know in a week you'll be clear. Doctors probably started this staying on the safe side of things rather than telling people they are clear cause they may not be...or they may.

Yup-that is exactly how docs are told to report this to cover their butts so there is no law suite-totally understandable and yet a confirmation that we need not feel like lepers for the rest of our lives. We shouldn't sleep around-but that is the case for anyone and everyone.

noooo...everything I've read says that Drs. don't know where the virus goes. There is no scientific consensus. Our challenge is to decide what to do in the face of ambiguity, not to stick our heads in the sand.

That is correct. there is an ambiguity of what happens to the virus. Common sense - treat it like any other part of your body that gets a wart. SAME THING. I DARE SOMEONE TO PROVE ME WRONG WITH REAL MEDICAL EVIDENCE.

hey I'm the original poster, Craig... I wish you were completely correct except the strains that can increase cancer risks for the ladies. But... other then that you got it buddy, by the way I totaly took this amazing looking girl out tonight, I'ma tell her about it when we get to the seriousness level. I'ma have her talk to a doc about it too so she can get all the info if we get that far, if she says it's cool well.... continued

correct, except for the cancer strains for women.

DrM
...the cancer strains in women are only serious if the women don't keep an eye on it with at least yearly pap smears. You are more likely to get killed getting into a car than developing cancer from HPV
