Question:
I am a 24 year old female? I have had an abnormal pap and was sent for a Colposcopy. The OB-GYN said I have abnormal cells and am showing positive signs of HPV. I have been witht he same partner for 3 years and we are married. He was a virgin when he met me. I have had had 3 partners prior to him all over four years ago. Is it possible I really have this infection or should I get a second opinion? My biopsy results will be back in 2 weeks DO you think its evident I have cervical cancer?

Cercical cancer only occurs in 10% of women who have HPV. HPV can be dormant in your body for YEARS before it shows enough signs to come up positive in a test. It can also become dormant and then reactivate (hence some women''s irregular pap results) If you have it, it can be a lot less severe than you think. Some HPV strands will occur NO signs or sypmtops- there are OVER 120 types! So, unless you start testing postive for pre-cancerous cell growth inside, I would not set up that cancer fund! Sorry, bad joke. Hope this helps~
