Question:

I am a 54 year old female who has only had one partner. I had an abnormal pap smear which turned out to be HPV. My husband has had no sex with anyone other than me except for an incident 38 years ago. For the life of me I cannot figure out how we got this HPV! I did get a pap smear at a "poor man''s clinic" a couple of times. Can you get HPV from unsterile equipment??

No it''s not. The virus is only transmitted via skin to skin contact. Pap Smears are only able to detect abnormal cell growth. HPV can take years to develop into warts or dysplasia, therefore your regular past pap tests could have not detected it.
