Question:

I have been tested for HPV and the test was positive. I have had two abnormal paps, and cyrotheraphy. I have been with the same parter for 18 months, the diagnosis came during this time. What should our sex regime be to assure we don''t keep passing the virus back in forth. I'm only 25, and I fear that I am eventually headed for cervical cancer. What advice could you give me?

As I have found out from hours of research that the virus could have layed dormant in your Genital Warts from several months to actually even years. Which in your case if you had partners before your present partner, you could have possibly contracted the virus from a past sexual experience. Now if your present partner is HPV+ and without having to with stain from sex, condoms are the only way to give you some assurance, not 100%, but assurance that you are trying to protect eachothers health. I''am just now learning about my chances of my infection for cervical cancer. If you know or learn of anything please submit back, because i'm your age as well, and becoming very scarred of the possiblity of losing my life to cancer! Thank you.

My doctor told me that its okay to have sex with the same partner because you have the same virus. As long as you don''t get a new strain of the virus and you stay healthy, it is likely that your body will fight off the infection and your pap smears will go back to normal. (you will still always carry the virus)
