Question:

Is it a guarantee that if you have cervical dysplasia, you have HPV? Is HPV screened for in your average std test?

Cervical or vulval dysplasia is caused by many things, not always HPV. Only a biopsy will show is HPV is the cause.

I''m not sure about the first question, but I'm pretty sure that most forms of dysplasia are caused by HPV.

No, HPV is NOT screened for in an "average" STD test. Neither is herpes. No matter how much testing you do, you can never be certain that you, or your partner, are "clean", as so many people like to say. there's no such thing. If you are sexually active, you will likely get something at some point. I had a complete screening done prior to a new relationship, even had a type specific Genital Warts test for herpes (I'm negative for both types) and still got HPV. You can't win. HPV is a silent epidemic, and in the grand shceme of things, not that big a deal, really, even the higher risk types that *can* lead to cancer.
